Last night, there was another free show at Peoples Natural Gas Park. It was the last one for the season. I’m not into either band’s style of music, but that’s the nice thing about a free show–I can go and stay as long (or short) as I like. I caught about 30 minutes from each band and then called it a night. Musically, both bands were very talented. I can appreciate that.
winnie palmer nature reserve
I visited the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve this morning. It was a pretty cool place. I could have used a “walking tour” map, though. I found myself aimlessly walking around. I pull up the map from their website, but if you know me, you know that wouldn’t do me any good. At any rate, I got to see everything I wanted to see.

I met one of my old shelter dog-walking friends for lunch today. We mostly talked shop (dogs), but catching up was nice. It’s been well over a year since I stopped walking dogs at the shelter so we haven’t seen each other in a while, though we text on occasion. I miss walking dogs, and she’s trying to get me to return, but I don’t have the time to do that right now. Maybe someday. Since it was a beautiful day, we got to sit on the patio and enjoy our meal. What nice weather!
eric johnson
Eric Johnson is known as being one of the top guitarists. And, while he’s not someone I have listened to much, I figured it would be a great show and I was right! They have some really great guitar-centric concerts at The Palace Theatre and this was my 3rd one for 2024. There weren’t many people at the show. In fact, tickets were only sold for the orchestra, so I ended up with a great seat (Row E). And the concert was nearly 2.5 hours long (including a short intermission) so anyone who skipped this show missed out on a really good one.
listen for the lie
This was a great book about an unsolved murder, which became the subject of a true crime podcast. I’m not into podcasts (or true crime for that matter), but this book was really well-written and held my interest throughout.
My rating: 4/5
