I saw this movie last night with a fellow co-worker/Foo Fighters fan. It was a horror-comedy flick conceptualized by Dave Grohl. Apparently he can’t sit still for a minute. The movie was about what you’d expect. Not so great, but a must see for Foo Fighters fans.

I’m usually into war movies, but this one was a bit of a snoozer. It might be the first WWI movie I’ve watched, so maybe that’s it. Or maybe it’s the fact that I can watch the war in Ukraine unfold in real-time and I’m all warred out.

My rating: 3/5

shopping and dinner

Jake and I made our semi-annual trip to TJ Maxx last night and went to The Fifth for dinner after. I was looking for a few specific things at the store, but came up empty-handed as far as my list goes. I did buy a light hoodie for myself, though. That place is really hit or miss for me, but you can’t beat their prices. Jake fared better. He got a hoodie, sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a belt. Dinner at The Fifth was good. I definitely recommend the Garlic Cheese Curds from the starters menu.

dog

I saw this movie yesterday afternoon with the guy who I met last weekend. It was a pretty good movie, though they had most of the funny bits in the trailer. Nevertheless, I liked it. How can you not like a movie that revolves around a dog? Especially when it isn’t a sad one.

After the movie we went to Anthony’s for dinner. I’ve been wanting to try their wood-fired oven pizza for some time. While the pizza was fine, I was a little disappointed. I think I can do better at home even when I’m not using my wood-fired pizza grill. But, I guess that’s why I don’t eat out that often.

My rating: 3.5/5 (for the movie) 3/5 (for the pizza)

an ordeal

Ralphie has always been weird about having his nails trimmed (among other things) and has gotten even weirder about it over time. The vet gave me some sedatives (pills) to try on him, but I still wasn’t able to cut his nails as he did not seem to be very sedated. So, I made an appointment to have them done at the vet’s office.

They gave him a sedative shot (did I mention he does not like getting shots, either?) and we sat in there for a while but he never went to sleep. I mean, you wouldn’t necessarily know that he had been sedated. Finally, we opted for the brute force method (muzzle and pinning him down) and let’s just say that did not go over well with Ralphie. I felt really bad about it, but his nails really needed done. Anyway, the vet then gave him a shot to reverse the sedative and we went home, where he proceeded to pretty much sleep for 2 days. I think it was more from the crash after the adrenaline rush than the sedative. But at least his nails are trimmed. The vet tech who helped out said that walking on gravel is a good way to naturally wear down dogs’ nails, so I need to find a gravel patch to walk on. I always walk him on the road or sidewalk, but that’s not quite doing the job.
