This was an amusing sitcom. I think everyone knows the premise by now so I won’t rehash it. If you know me at all, you won’t be surprised to hear my favorite character was Brianna–she was hilarious!

It always seems like everything comes out at the same time. I’m behind on my tv-watching and now that it’s summer, I will surely fall even further behind.

deadwood (the movie)

This movie picked up a number of years after the series left off–specifically, when South Dakota celebrated its statehood. So, at least they didn’t have to make the characters look younger (which is a battle Better Call Saul has been losing for years). The movie was ok, but it didn’t have much going on in the way of plot. It kind of felt more like an episode or two of the show (something in the middle of a larger story). Though, it was good to see the characters again even if Swearengen uncharacteristically didn’t swear that much during the movie.

open for business

I spent the previous two evenings power washing the patio and patio furniture. It really needed it! Everything is all set up now and looks great!

There’s an issue with the patio, that has been getting worse by the year, which is that the lawn is now higher than the patio. This is complicated by the fact that there are large tree roots running along the edge of the patio (otherwise, I could just dig it up to fix the issue). I’m thinking about hiring someone to install decking or paver stones on top of the patio (in order to raise it up above ground level). But there are more pressing issues at the moment, so I guess that’s going to have to wait.

hbd, grad!

I offered to host Mother’s Day this year and while we were at it, we celebrated Jacob’s birthday and graduation. It was a small party–just my family. It was a nice afternoon and the weather was surprisingly pleasant after the deluge of rain we received at the end of last week. Not that we were outside–it was still too cold for that, but it was nice to see the sun shining for a change.

ozark

The final seven episodes of Ozark were released on Friday and I made it my mission to finish the series over the weekend. I really loved the show. At first it felt like a Breaking Bad ripoff, which it kind of was, but less nuanced and quite possibly more violent. It started to get really interesting at the end of the first season, though. The third season was probably my favorite.

They really went to extremes with the amount of characters that were killed off–practically no one was safe (or left by the end of the show). As much as I was looking forward to the final episodes, they didn’t really live up to my expectations. The episodes were kind of slow until the last few. They killed off one of my favorite characters in the finale and the last scene was open-ended, which I don’t like. I want everything wrapped up like a present with a nice bow on it (like Breaking Bad).

That said, I’ll probably watch the show again. It’s nice to watch the story the whole way through without having to remember what happened a year or more ago. But, it seems like everyone’s releasing new episodes right now, so it’s going to have to wait a bit.
