natural born killers

I saw this was leaving Netflix soon so I figured I’d give it another watch. I saw it when it originally came out in the 90s and when Oliver Stone was at his peak. I remember liking it then, but not so much this time around. The special effects looked dated and the story was kind of ridiculous. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis were great, though.

a golden gathering

I took Tilly to this again. The event was held yesterday. She hates going, but I love it, so too bad for her! I didn’t really take any photos, but WPXI was there and they have a nice slideshow on their website. You can even see part of us in the 5th photo! And, later on in one of the group shots, too! And, proving there’s an exception to every rule, some lady’s golden was growling and snapping at all of the other dogs. She eventually removed the dog from the situation, but that was surprising to see.

l is for lawless

This was a pretty good one. It was a bit different from her other stories. In this one, Kinsey was doing some free research for someone and then got wrapped up in the search for the loot from a 40-year-old bank robbery. Grafton is an excellent writer. All of her stories are compelling and the way she writes is so descriptive. Love it!

pond update

I set up a Blink camera on the pond last night and monitored it through the evening, with no luck. When the dogs got up this morning, I checked it and saw a raccoon in the pond. Mystery solved. There were only one or two fish left in the pond last night (and maybe none now) so there’s no need to figure this out until I get more fish next year. But, initial research is telling me this is going to be challenging.

something’s fishy

I went to feed the fish in my pond a few nights ago and didn’t see many fish. It was a little cooler than it had been, so I assumed they were hiding somewhere. The same thing happened last night, so I moved some stuff around and still couldn’t see more than a few. This morning, just a little before dawn, I let one of the dogs outside and went out with them. The pond sounded weird, so I turned around to look at it and something jumped out of the pond and ran away (it must have been standing on the pump). I didn’t catch what it was, but it lept out of the pond so I don’t think it could be a raccoon. I’m thinking fox or mink. Anyway, that’s a bummer. I hope it didn’t get all of the fish. I normally dye the pond water but with all of the rain we got the other week the remainder of the dye washed away. Dye can keep certain predators away, depending on how they hunt. I will have to re-dye it tonight and maybe put up the winter netting. This has happened before, but I believe it was 2013. I don’t know what the cause was that year, but there was a blue heron that was stealing fish from everyone’s pond that year, so I always assumed that was the culprit. It’s definitely not the cause this time.
