I was on a mission to finish this book as I received a Kindle for Christmas and I can’t wait to start reading it. This was another novel by Lisa Scottoline and it was in her “Bennie” series. This was pretty early on in the series so it was lacking the usual characters. But, it was a pretty quick read, so we’ll call that a plus.

christmas parts 2 & 3

The relatively short edition…

We celebrated Christmas Eve with Brian’s family. We went to their place for supper then they all came to our church to see Jake play guitar at the 10:30pm service. We didn’t get back from church until after midnight, so by the time we got everything situated it was 1am until we went to bed. We had my family over for lunch today, so we had to get up rather early to get things going (6am-ish). I recruited Brian to make a turkey breast in the slow cooker and I put a ham in the oven. By the time everyone left Brian and I were beat, so we took a short nap on the couch. Unfortunately, I have to go to work tomorrow and Friday (I’m off Thursday), but I have a 4-day weekend coming up for New Year’s, so I guess I shouldn’t complain.

It was a nice couple of days. And, of course, we received a bunch of great gifts. Merry Christmas, everyone!

christmas

We kicked off the Christmas season today and had Judy over for our annual Christmas visit. I made brunch (because it’s Sunday, after all) and then we hung out and talked after opening presents. It was a nice afternoon. As a side bonus, the dogs were on “11” during her visit so now they’re exhausted. Methinks it’s time for a nap.

seeking a friend for the end of the world

This was an ok movie, but I probably could have lived had I not watched it. The movie told the story of what happens if you know the end of the world is coming. In this case, an asteroid was heading towards earth and was going to destroy life as we know it. It was billed as a dramedy and that it was. It has a couple of funny scenes, but overall, was pretty subdued. I watched this one myself because I couldn’t talk anyone else into sitting through it.

almost there

I’m finally done with all of my Christmas preparations. I finished making the dog treats (and I even did some cat treats) this week. And, I finished wrapping gifts this evening. Now, all we need to do is finish up the living room makeover and all will be complete. I was running a little behind this year. I’m going to have to make sure that doesn’t happen again next year.
