one dog’s opinion

We were getting ready to go work on our investment property this afternoon and I jokingly said that we should take Buster. Brian was surprisingly on board with that idea so we took him. While we were getting set up to work, Buster gave us his opinion of the place by taking a giant dump on the living room carpet (he does not adapt well to new surroundings).

Beyond that, we did get a lot accomplished this afternoon. Brian removed the old kitchen flooring. Jake removed all of the cabinet doors and drawers, along with the old hardware that was attached to them. And I painted all of the cabinet frames and (as a bonus) the drawers. This puts us in good shape for next weekend. I feel like I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I don’t know how Brian lucks out. We just had his 4th birthday celebration this evening. He wanted the two of us to make spinach lasagna (complete with homemade noodles) for supper, so that’s what we did.

His first celebration was dinner at my parents’ last month; the second was when we went away two weeks ago (originally that trip was planned for this weekend, so he considered it to be part of his birthday celebration); the third was dinner at my in-laws’ last weekend.

Three of the four celebrations involved pasta. Coincidence?

This was another good story recommended to me by Brian. I read most of it while we were away the other weekend. The plot was about a man who becomes obsessed with a woman and subsequently kidnaps her.

The first part of the book was from the man’s point of view and I found this more interesting than the latter part of the book, which was told from the woman’s point of view. The reason for this is that her point of view didn’t really shed additional light on anything–it was just kind of rehashing the previous story.

the maze runner

Is it just me or is there a glut of dystopian teenage fare going around these days? This was probably my second favorite next to The Hunger Games. It had a lot of action and a unique plot, though I think I missed a couple of important plot elements while mixing up some Margaritas. I’ll have to look into that.

This series finally wrapped up last week. I was ready for it to go. For the most part, I enjoyed watching it, but there were some moments…

Brian’s favorite thing about the show was that it gave him a reason to complain (he wasn’t a fan). The funny thing is that I probably wouldn’t have watched it except for the fact that Peter Krause was one of the main characters and I loved him on Six Feet Under, so I gave the show a try.
