This was a pretty good movie about a father and daughter who live off the grid in the Pacific Northwest. It was directed by the same director as Winter’s Bone, another movie I really liked. Both were kind of in the same vein.
My rating: 3.5/5

The night before Halloween, Esme met up with a skunk. Brian thought he had the smell under control, so he brought her to the office on Thursday. So, now our office also smells like a skunk. Thursday was pretty bad, but it had dissipated a bit by Friday. I also put bowls of ground coffee out in all of the offices. That helped a bit, too. Poor, stinky Esme. I can’t imagine what Brian’s house must smell like.
Jake and I decorated for Halloween this year. I think we’ve been consistent in decorating the past few years, but we did get away from doing pumpkins. But that got remedied this year. I did the witch and he did the skull. I think they turned out pretty well.
Trick or Treat night was supposed to be this evening, but due to the forecasted weather, it has been moved to Saturday evening. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time they have done that since I have lived in Upper Yoder. So far the bad weather has been a bust, but we’ll see how the evening goes.
A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally forgot to give Buster his morning Prozac. I didn’t realize this until the next day (his pills are in a pill case that has the days of the week on it). Normally, if something like this would happen in the past, we would have seen a change in his behavior, but I did not this time. So, it got me to thinking that perhaps I could finally cut back on his medication.
I reduced his dosage by a third and he’s been doing well with it. I haven’t noticed any changes. I’m going to keep him at this dosage for at least a couple of months before I try reducing it further, but I’m pretty happy we got this far with it. Plus, his liver enzymes have been up the last couple of times he’s had them checked, so this should help those numbers, too (as Prozac has an effect on the liver).
I was sitting at my computer earlier and felt a pinching sensation behind my right knee. I checked on the situation only to find a tick attached to the area. It came off pretty easily, so I can’t imagine it was attached that long, but I guess I’ll find out. I did walk dogs at the shelter today, so it’s quite possible I picked something up while walking around, but I also did a bit of yardwork earlier, too, so it could have been from that as well. I guess it’s time to get some permethrin spray for my shoes.
