this is halloween

Jake and I decorated for Halloween this year. I think we’ve been consistent in decorating the past few years, but we did get away from doing pumpkins. But that got remedied this year. I did the witch and he did the skull. I think they turned out pretty well.

Trick or Treat night was supposed to be this evening, but due to the forecasted weather, it has been moved to Saturday evening. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time they have done that since I have lived in Upper Yoder. So far the bad weather has been a bust, but we’ll see how the evening goes.

cutbacks

A couple of weeks ago, I accidentally forgot to give Buster his morning Prozac. I didn’t realize this until the next day (his pills are in a pill case that has the days of the week on it). Normally, if something like this would happen in the past, we would have seen a change in his behavior, but I did not this time. So, it got me to thinking that perhaps I could finally cut back on his medication.

I reduced his dosage by a third and he’s been doing well with it. I haven’t noticed any changes. I’m going to keep him at this dosage for at least a couple of months before I try reducing it further, but I’m pretty happy we got this far with it. Plus, his liver enzymes have been up the last couple of times he’s had them checked, so this should help those numbers, too (as Prozac has an effect on the liver).

ticked

I was sitting at my computer earlier and felt a pinching sensation behind my right knee. I checked on the situation only to find a tick attached to the area. It came off pretty easily, so I can’t imagine it was attached that long, but I guess I’ll find out. I did walk dogs at the shelter today, so it’s quite possible I picked something up while walking around, but I also did a bit of yardwork earlier, too, so it could have been from that as well. I guess it’s time to get some permethrin spray for my shoes.

the clovehitch killer

This movie was about a kid who discovers that his father might be a serial killer. Overall, I really liked it. The movie really held my attention and was the perfect length. If there is anything negative to be said, it would be the fact that the police weren’t involved with the plot at any point. But, still I thought it worked.

My rating: 4/5

blown

One of the speakers in my car has been blown for what seems like a year (but it’s probably only been a month). I finally got around to ordering a pair of replacement speakers last week and I installed them on Sunday. What a difference! I didn’t buy high end speakers (as I’m hoping to get a new car in the spring, so no sense in spending extra money), but these sound amazing. I think they sound even better than the stock speakers (which shouldn’t be a surprise, I guess, but I always thought that the car’s stereo system sounded pretty good). Anyway, I’m finally able to listen to music again so I celebrated by buying the new Tool album yesterday. I don’t have any opinions on it yet, but I’m just glad to have some new music.
