Earlier this year, I put in an application to be on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Cambria County. I had an interview for the position earlier this month and just found out today that my application was approved! What this means for me is a board meeting once a month and volunteering at some of their many fundraising events. I’m looking forward to helping out however I can. I’ve really enjoyed volunteering the past 18 months, so I feel like this is just a natural progression.
the institute
This was the latest from Stephen King. Despite the fact that I started reading this on January 1st and just finished it last night, I liked this book. I liked the setup at the beginning and the introduction of the main character. I also thought when things came together at the end, it was really good. But, the middle dragged on a bit for me. Plus, I got a puppy, so that didn’t help, either.
I’m going to have to read a short book next to keep my average up (one book a month) for 2020.

powder room complete (sort of)
I pretty much was able to wrap this project up over the weekend. I have a spot on the wall that needs touched up and a few spots of the newly installed trim also need touched up, but we’ll call it done. It’s not perfect–there are a few things here and there that I wish looked better. But, for a basement bathroom (and my first big solo project), we’ll call it good enough.
preacher
At the urging of one of our employees, I read the Preacher series of graphic novels a couple of years ago. I’m not really into graphic novels, but I thought it was a pretty good story. Then, the series came out, so I figured I’d give it a watch. It was a good show, but they lost me a little in the final season, which didn’t follow the story very closely. Still, it was an entertaining show, but I’m ready to move on to something else.

not broken
Ralphie had his neuter surgery yesterday. He did well with it and didn’t seem too out of sorts last night besides a lot of whining (he’s normally a whiner, but this was a lot more than usual). I figured he’d conk out early and I was kind of tired, so I went to bed a little earlier than usual. But, he wasn’t having any of that. He wouldn’t stay in the bedroom and he had to keep going outside as he had a bit of diarrhea. I made my way to the couch from the bedroom, but he still wouldn’t settle down. It was about 4am until he went to sleep (and even then, he kept getting up every hour or so). Needless to say, I’m pretty tired today. I planned on working at home today, which was a good thing because he was totally wired this morning (I don’t know how I’m going to be able to restrict his activity over the next two weeks). He finally settled down around lunch. We’ll see how the rest of the day goes. I hope he sleeps tonight as I don’t think I can do another night of that.
