When I bought my car 3 years ago (I can’t believe it has been that long), it came with a complimentary 3 year subscription to Bluelink, which gives remote access to the vehicle via an app for tasks like remote start, locking/unlocking doors, checking vehicle status, locating the vehicle via GPS, etc.
In theory, I really liked it, but I didn’t use it much, except for the remote start, which only worked maybe two-thirds of the time (it didn’t work like a typical remote starter, instead the app makes a request and a signal is sent to the car from I don’t know where).
Last week, it was time to renew and I couldn’t justify the yearly charge of $200, so now I am without Bluelink. Of course, it expired on one of the coldest days of the year, so I got to drive to work in a freezing car that morning. I still don’t think it’s worth the $200, though.
I guess if I’m that worried about it, I could always get an aftermarket remote starter installed, but I probably won’t do that. I really only use it when it’s cold and I only go into the office 2 days a week and I hardly go anywhere else, so it doesn’t seem like it’s worth the expense.
