Experience Hendrix is a tour put on by the Hendrix estate. It’s been going on for a while, but this is was the first I heard of it. It features a rotating group of top-notch musicians who play all of the classic Hendrix songs, plus some classic blues songs (which I assume Hendrix must have played back in the day). This show featured some great guitarists such as Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Dweezil Zappa (I doubt I would have ever had an opportunity to see him play if it wasn’t for this tour), Ally Venable (I’m pretty sure I saw her at the Flood City Music Festival a few years ago), and many more. I also got introduced to a new-ish blues guitarist, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, who was amazing!
This is one of the best live music experiences I’ve had. One thing is for sure: there was more talent on that stage last night than any other show I’ve been to.
